Handmade Felt Edinburgh - About Felt. Felt is a non-woven fabric made using natural fibres, water, soap - and lots of hard work! To form a dense fabric of permanently interlocking fibres. Each type of wool has distinct qualities, reflecting the environment in which the breed of sheep has specially adapted. The Herdwick wool for instance has a coarse and hairy texture, whilst the Merino is soft and smooth, with a silky lustre. Click here for more information about how felt is made.

I graduated from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh with an honours degree in Art and Design. I completed my post graduate work in tapestry in Poznan, Poland. I have exhibited and sold my work both in the UK and abroad and although I nowadays concentrate mostly on feltmaking, I still paint and produce the occasional tapestry. I thrive on colour, form and texture and I am always on the look-out for new perspectives on organic shapes that I can use creatively in all aspects of my work.
